Carse of Gowrie Orchards Group
The Carse of Gowrie Orchards Group was initiated by the Tayside Biodiversity Partnership to encourage the restoration and creation of orchards within the Carse of Gowrie. We run training courses (pollination, grafting & pruning), festivals and fruit pressing days. For more details please contact Andrea Partridge .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) who is the Project Officer for the Carse of Gowrie Orchards Group.
Within Errol we have a project to plant fruit trees in public spaces and to create an avenue of fruit trees down Gas Brae. As of summer 2010 we have planted 42 fruit trees (apple, plum, greengage and pear) within the village. In addition there is a communal fruit mill and press in Errol for anyone to use by arrangement. For information on the public fruit tree planting in Errol and the fruit press, please contact Roger Humphry .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Stimulated by this increasing interest in fruit within the Carse of Gowrie, the local winery Cairn O’Mohr has recently started buying excess apples from local residents and making both cider and apple juice for sale.
